Somatic Therapy in Portland, Oregon

Body-centered therapy for when you understand the pattern but still feel caught in it, on edge, running on empty, or far from yourself.

Virtual Therapy Services available throughout Oregon

You can explain why you push through, say yes, or keep taking care of what needs doing. You can see how the pattern formed. Still, when it’s happening, your own signals are easy to miss. You might realize afterward that you were tense, overwhelmed, or wanted to say no. Even with all your insight, it can be hard to know what you feel or what you want in the moment.

You understand the pattern, but still lose touch with yourself.

Your own needs get lost in everything
you’re keeping up with…

  • You’re exhausted, but slowing down still feels difficult.

  • You know what might help, but can’t seem to follow through when the day gets moving.

  • You say yes, then realize later you weren’t sure you wanted to.

  • Even when things are quiet, your mind keeps scanning for what needs your attention.

  • You can explain the pattern, but still feel caught in it when it matters.

  • You understand why you push past your limits, but in the moment, you still find yourself doing it.

What is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-centered way of working with what you’re experiencing. As we talk about you, we also notice what’s happening in the present: your breath catching when a boundary comes up, or tension as you describe pushing past tiredness.

We pay attention to these moments together, with curiosity and at your pace. There’s no particular response you need to produce. The work is relational, grounded in what’s unfolding between us and guided by your body’s organic intelligence. Over time, this attention may help your own feelings and needs come into clearer focus.

Meet Elyse Gardner, LPC

Somatic Therapist in Portland, Oregon

Welcome, I’m Elyse. I offer body-centered therapy for adults who feel anxious, depleted, or far from themselves. You may understand your patterns and still feel caught in them, or find that it’s hard to know what you need beneath everything you’re managing.

My approach is grounded, relational, and body-aware. Alongside what you want to talk about, we pay attention to what you notice in your body, your emotions, and your everyday life. We move at a pace that respects what you’re carrying. Sometimes that means slowing down, sometimes getting practical, and sometimes exploring something more deeply.

Through steady attention and honest conversation, we make room for your body’s organic intelligence and innate wisdom. What we explore can support more balance and wholeness in your life, in ways that feel integrated and workable beyond our time together.

IN A CLIENTS WORDS:

“Working with Elyse helped me trust my inner guidance and step into my personal power during one of the most terrifying and transformative seasons of my life. Her presence and insight turned a pivotal dream into a navigational map that carried me through profound grief, uncertainty, and letting go. I quite literally walked through the sunlit door of my life, and I would not be here without her.”

You deserve support that feels natural to you.

If this approach resonates, here’s your next steps:

  1. Book a free consultation call

Choose a time using any of the consultation buttons on this site. We’ll talk about what brings you here, what kind of support you’re looking for, and any questions you have about working together. The call gives us a chance to get to know each other and see whether moving forward feels right.

  2. Schedule your intake session

If we decide to begin, we’ll find a session time and talk through the details. A consistent weekly time works best when possible. I ask clients to meet at least three times a month for the first three months, then we can revisit the rhythm together. I’ll send your intake forms for you to complete and sign before we meet.

  3. Begin working together & start receiving the support you need.

In our first sessions, we’ll talk about what’s happening in your life and what feels most important to you. We’ll make room for conversation and attention to what you notice in your body, emotions, and everyday experience. We can move at a pace that respects what you’re carrying and keep checking in about what feels useful.
